Nick Bantock is the author of several books including the Griffin and Sabine series. He is a masterful storyteller who combines art history, psychology, and images together, which keeps his audience in suspense. Griffin and Sabine is a series, which tells a story of two people who are captivated by each other, try to meet, but seem to elude each other. There are letters to read, postcard images to view, symbolism to analyzes, and collages to get lost in. His books create an interacive experience as you pull out each letter from its envelope; you began to feel the characters presences. The mystery, suspense and loving characters compel the reader to continue to the end, all in one sitting. His artwork is an inspiration to his viewers. I highly recommend his books to jump start your creativity, increase your motivation, and boast your creative energy. If you are blocked, sit down, and absorb one of his books or the whole series for inspiration.

Terri-
You mentioned Nick Bantock -way back when- and I don’t know if I ever followed up to let you know I got a hold of a couple of his books through interlibrary loan and read a bunch of interviews with him online.
I bought his book –URGENT 2nd Class and still own it. It’s sort of the *making of* and how he does his art. It was interesting that most of his stuff is scanned and not drawn. He then does photo-manipulation on a computer. It’s really more of a collection-obsession and craft. I love his work. It made me realize I do “found art” in just about everything I do but never recognized it until that moment.
